Policies
A quick summary of our main policies. Your enrolment contract has the full details.
Tuition & refunds
RCB College follows the refund rules in Alberta's Private Vocational Training Act and Private Vocational Training Regulation.
- Cooling-off period: cancel on or before the 4th business day after signing your contract for a full refund of tuition paid.
- Before class begins: if you or RCB College end the contract before class begins, any tuition paid is refunded.
| Portion of the program delivered | Tuition RCB College may keep |
|---|---|
| 10% or less | 25% |
| More than 10%, but less than 50% | 60% |
| 50% or more | 100% |
Refunds are paid within 30 days of the contract ending. If your tuition was paid by a student loan or another agency, the refund goes back to them. Transcripts and diplomas are released once tuition is paid in full.
Attendance
- Attendance is mandatory. Plan for at least 20 hours of study per week.
- Absences of more than 3 days in a row need a valid reason and documentation.
- Missing 5 days in a row without contacting the college means withdrawal, and Student Aid is notified.
- Missing 15 days in a row (even with a reason, including breaks) also means withdrawal.
- Need time off? Contact Student Services for a Leave of Absence form and submit it with a learning plan.

- Passing grade is 70% (C).
- Missed an exam for a documented reason (medical, court or similar)? You can request a deferred exam, up to 3 times during your program.

- Second time: expulsion.
Code of conduct
- Business-like dress and behaviour, since we train you for the workplace.
- Zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, violence, weapons, drugs or alcohol.
- Steps: verbal warning, written warning, suspension of up to 5 days, then withdrawal.
Withdrawing from a program
- Give Administration a written withdrawal letter.

- If you have a student loan, you still need to repay it.
