Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk Diploma

This diploma prepares you for administrative work in clinics, hospitals and other healthcare settings. You learn data entry and patient records management, and you train on industry-standard healthcare software.

The program is made up of 16 focused courses of 40 to 80 hours each, including Business Communication, Medical Terminology and Electronic Medical Records. Expect about 20 hours of study per week. Classes are blended: online learning plus an in-person session during the last week of each course.

You finish with a 4-week practicum at Alberta Health Services or a private medical office, where you put your skills to work in a real healthcare setting.

• An admissions interview (required for everyone)
• Alberta high school diploma or equivalent, or a GED
• No diploma? Mature students 18 or older can qualify by passing the Wonderlic test with a score of 18 or higher
• English: Grade 12 English, one year of post-secondary study in English, or a CLB 7 test score (see admission requirements)
